Throughout the 1960s, Pryor’s mentor Juliette Whittaker was drawn to represent the Civil Rights struggle in her art. This 1969 fresco of hers drew out the thoughtfulness of Malcolm, and suggested visually the impact he was destined to have on future generations of black Americans.
The label of the fresco reads: “Dedicated to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and the Children.”
